  1. Barley meal wet and mixed with sour milk into a paste, put on a cloth and cools and cures Erysipelas. Cahil's blood is another cure for Erysipelas and Anthony's fire. Ground ivy boiled stem and leaf, a handful to about a 1 pt. of water, simmer and allow to boil for about 1 hr. then strain. Take wine glass full each morning for Rheumatism. The root is not to be boiled.
    Poultice of boiled turnips for a sprain.
    Scooped raw potato applied 3 or 4 times a day is a cure for boils.
    Soap and sugar cure for Whitlow or plunge finger into boiling potato water 3 times.
    Moss got out of a field not off a wall boiled with water cures Diarrahae.
    Gooseberry thorn cure for sty in the eye.
    Ivy leaf cure for corn on the feet
    Jaundice - Bark of Barbary tree boiled in new milk. Drink about 4 times a day.
    Sore throat - Cut a large slice of bread, toast until thoroughly blackened on either side, then pour on enough hot vinegar to saturate the bread. Place the poultice between muslin
