A prayer found on the grave of our Lord
O adorable Lord and saviour Jesus Christ dying on the Cross for lives. O holy Cross of Christ ward off from me all sharp repeating words. O holy Cross ward off from me all weapons of danger. O holy Cross ward off from me all things that are evil. O holy Cross of Christ protect me from my enemies. O holy Cross of Christ direct me in the way of happiness. O holy Cross of Christ ward off from me a sudden death and give me life eternal. O Crucified Jesus of Nazareth have mercy on me now and for everymore. Amen.
On good Friday before noon the Jew stood up with piercing dart,
And pierced our Lord in through the heart.
Th blood it fell from heart to hand,
    Christ have mercy on us.
