A Story (ar lean)
“Hudden and Dudden and Donald O'Leary were near neighbours and they ploughed with three bullocks.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)her bed, but Donald making noise they had to retreat and leave the money behind. However by daybreak Donald got his mother on his back and carried her to town. He fixed his mother at the well as if she was stooping for a drink, and then he went into a house for a drink of tea. "I wish," said Donald to the housekeeper, "you would call my mother in, she is at yon well trying to get a drink and she is a bit deaf; if she doesn't hear you give her a little shake and tell her that I want her." The housekeeper called the old woman several times but she seemed to take no notice. At length she went to her and shook her but when she let her go, she tumbled into the well. The housekeeper in great surprise hurried and told Donald what had happened. "O Glory be to God what is this?" said Donald running and taking his mother out of the well. He started weeping and lamenting and acting in such a manner as though he had lost his wits. The housekeeper on the other hand was far worse than Donald.
