the field for a bullock. He went and when he returned he had only half the bullock as the herd boy had pulled the other half and the bullock was torn in two. He gave the half he had to Fionn's wife to cook for him but she did more than cook the meat. While the giant was outside she made a cake and put a griddle into it. When all was ready she gave them to the giant. He found the cake terrible hard yet he ate away until every toot in this head was broken. Fionn could hardly keep from laughing in the cradle at Manover eating the griddle.
When he had finished he walked about waiting for Fionn to come back. He was now very thirsty so he went to get a drink at the stream. Fionn's wife was watching him and when she saw him stopping down she dropped an arrow into the stream. It flowed along and got into Manover's mouth and killed him. Fionn's wife was delighted but Fionn was very angry because it was against the law to kill anyone unfairly. He was buried on the side of the hill where he died.
