  1. The 15th August and the 25th March are both called "Lady Day".
    People called cows "pruggy" and a calf "Gawneed" and an ass is sometimes called "Jeophanny" When calling a pig they say "Huirris Dawk Dawk.
    A cross made of wheaten straw put up in the cow-houses for luck.
    A hourse named "Wicked Will" was owned by Mr Quinn in Littletown. The hourse was in a race at Punchestown and was winning when he fell and broke is back and he had to be shot. It is said that the jockey pulled him suddenly. Two other horses called "Kilmeague" and "Chicken" were owned by a Mr. Nolan of Kilmeague.
    When calling a goat they say "Gin Gin".
