  1. The people long ago always wore boots, but they did not start to wear them until they were fully grown. The boys in the country go barefoot in the summer.
    There are shoemakers in Monaghan now but there were more shoemakers long ago than there are now. The boots long ago were made by hand. There were no such things as shop boots then.
