  1. Henry O. Lewes was the Landlord of this district long ago. They were very bad landlords. Evictions were carried on in this district. And if they could not pay the rent they would be put to the back of the ditch. Some of them also went to America, England, and Canada. Some others begging and the old people died. The Land lord had power to do what he liked with the people; he could change them to where he liked and give them a worse or a better farm. He punished them for little things such as cutting a tree or not paying the rent.
