    down at the mineing offices. When the meeting was over Parnell had to take dispatches to Kilkenny. A band of men met him at the corner and threw lime into his eyes. A woman met him at "Gooley's Stream", and, relising he was blind, helped him off his horse and bathed his eyes in the stream and he was blind ever after. Whenever you want to cut a 'Comer lad you say, "Ye blinded Parnell but ye won't blind me".
