    kind of a wife he got and what she was like and all about the party. Anything that happens round his neighbourhood he writes poetry on it.

    William Carleton was a Tyrone poet but he was very fond of crossing over the border to find material for his poems. In the jail in Monaghan the jail keeper was called Johnnie Short and William Carelton wrote a poem on the jail and he called it Johnnie Short's Hotel.
