  1. Andrew Thomas Lord Blayney was a very famous hero who once ruled over this district. He formed a regiment of well trained soldiers and they were called the Blayney Bloodhounds. They fought in the Napoleonic war. Andrew was taken a prisoner and kept for years by the French government as a ransom for some of the United Irishmen who were in England prisons. A many called Sharp Delaney who was born in this neighbourhood went out to America and took an important part in Philadelphia at the time of the American Revolution.
