    music stopped. The bagpipes were quickly shoved under the pillow. The 'child' lay down and the crying went on as before.
    Some time after that the woman went out again about her work & one of the tailors followed her.
    "My good woman," said he, "do you know what you have in the cradle?"
    "It's my child," said she, "and God help it it's not too well."
    "Indeed and it's not your child" said he & he told her what happened when she was at the well.
    "My advice to you," said he "is to take that that's in the cradle to a river between two townlands & to throw it into the water & you'll get your own child back again."
    After some time the woman came in and went over to the cradle where the child was crying.
    "Darling," said she, lifting it up "you're a long time crying now I think a little fresh air will do you good."
    She took the child in her apron to a river that was flowing between two townlands. There was a plank crossing the river. She walked in on it and as she was in the middle of the plank she suddenly opened her apron and let the 'child' fall into the river.
