    Two friends met in land afar across the ocean spray,
    two exiles far from Ballytrain,
    Their hearts were light and gay,
    says Pat to Mick I dreamt last night of the good old days of gone,
    I dreamt I landed in Dundalk and I cried on the shore.
    Chorus:
    Is Ballytrain like what it used to be, are the “stars” still there. Do the boys still stroll around the road in the light and glare. Are the girls so fair and beautiful.
    Are my friends alright, oh, what would I give to be with them in the old town tonight.
