  1. St Bridget's Day
    The old people used to make crosses out of straw on rushes and place them on the inside of thatched roofs on that day where they may be seen and they were called St Bridget's Crosses.
    St Patrick's Day
    On that day all the people wear a sprig of shamrock in their coats. In the evening, they go to the public house to drown the shamrock as they say.
    Shrove Tuesday
    On that day which is called "pancake day", the house had and even yet to occupy a good part of the evening making pancakes for tea.
    Chalk Sunday
    This was the first Sunday of April. All the bachelors and the old maids were chalked on leaving the chapel yard on that day.
    Easter Sunday
    It was an old custom
