  1. In former times the people never wore boots. They always had a pair and if they were going to town they would carry them and put them on when they would be near the town The children went barefooted all the year round.
    Boots are made and repaired locally but there is only one shoemaker in the district Shoemaking has been a tradition in his family for about fifty years.
    There were about ten shoemakers in the district formerly compared with one now. This great change is due to the fact that the people do not like to wear home made shoes, so much now as they used to in former times. Clogs were always
