  1. About sixty or seventy years ago there stood an old hedge school in Rathwany. It was built in a field. It was the only school in the district and therefore all the young people of the district went to school there.
Some of the people that went there are alive to-day. My grandmother went to school there.
A man named Reynolds taught there. It was a poor miserable - looking cabin roofed and thatched with rushes and wattles. It had an earthen floor and had only one apartment.
