    being milked the man says "Hurse" and the cow stops. "How, how" or "Go on" or a low whistle is used when driving the cows. To call the calves to their milk we call "Sucky, sucky" and they come running. The cowhouse is a long stone building with an iron or thatched roof. It has two doors if there are many cows. They are not really doors but doorways. Where the cows lie is raised up about six inches above the drain which runs behind them. The drain is made of cobble stones + the place where the cows lie is made of flat flagstones.
