    Through the moss and green rushes I'd wander afar
    And speak to my echoes from the rocks of Glencar.
    And when deep melancholy overshadowed my mind
    I'd play with the storm and sport with the wind.
    But why do I mourn or speak so in vain
    When I know I shall never see Erin again
    While the daisies and cowslips united shall grow.
