    About ninety years ago the Raes were the landlords of the lands of each side of Derrymore river.

    About ninety years ago the Raes were the landlords of the lands on each side of Derrymore river. That land now belongs to Maurice Quirke and Maurice Sayers. Richard Donovan was the landlord of the lands from Rae's boundary to the west of Derrymore.
    Richard Donovan and his son John got a mill built for grinding flour and meal on the west side. They also built a pond on the mountain near the Derrymore lakes and another near the mill to keep water for working the machinery during the Summer months.
    After some time the Donovans rented it to the Latchfords at a hundred pounds a year. The Latchfords were grounding flour and meal there then. The meal and flour was sent to Dingle in horse and carts. The owner of the car was paid four shillings a load. Then the work in the mill stopped.
    A joined company tookover the mill and they turned it into a factory for making blankets and tweeds. Mark Newsam, Sam Newsam and Sam Kayvers from Scotland, and Brunton from Armagh were over the machinery. The first manager of the factory was David O'Connell and then the
