  1. Some tops are spun by a cord and more by hand. Many's the top I made with a spool. I pare and pare until it is the shape of a top and then a bit of a stick is stuck through it. Then it can be spun. A cord tops are made by paring a spool into a top. Then ridges are cut in it. Then it can be spun.

  2. Get a top and a twine. Roll it on evenly. When you have it all on catch it in your right hand in a slantin' condition. Then the twine will come off and the top will spin for some time on a board.
