  1. There were three men living in Ardoughter, and there was a new road going to be made and the government was giving a lot of money for stones. There was a lot of stones in the fort and the men made up their minds to knock the fort. When they had their work done and got paid for the stones they began to get sick one by one. It is said that they could not sleep a wink with thorns going up through them. They suffered like this until they died.
