The moon was shining brightly on Bannas winding strand,
A Silence great and lonely was over all the land.
The stars like diamonds brightly shone in the azure sky.
Yet nothing broke the stillness save the heaving billows' sigh.
Like a murmur from the ocean came the thread of many feet
As on the lonely sand stone rang.
    Their slow and measured beat.
My heart was beating wildly like
the heart of a hunted hare
    Yet nothing met my vision.
