  1. There is a large flag-stone situated in the Sliabh Mis mountains a few miles west of Camp. It is so situated that the sun shines on it at some peculiar angle so that it can be seen glittering from our locality (Lisanearla, Abbeydorney) about mid-day. It happens more especially in winter time when the sun is lower.
My father (John Deady) tells me that long ago when people had no clocks they based their dinner-hour according to this flag-stone. When it could be seen shining it was then dinner-time. It thus got the name, among the people of our locality, of "cloichín lár an lae".
