    People passing by forts at night in those days often heard beautiful and dancing and could find the perfume of the meat roasting or boiling.
    They used to say if you were carried into a fort when this was going if you did not partake any thing there, they could not carry you after, if you had a departed friend at the entertainment he or she would warn you, so we often heard it told.
    There are some fine forts in this neighbourhood one in Laharden and one in Kilcox, where those tales were told happened.
