Of course the axle was always revolving as the horse went round and round a platform which was made for the purpose, a woman standing at the barrel to give it air for a little time by taking out a plug and inserting it again and no more until the butter was made. The horse was so used to it that when the person inside would say stop he would stop outside and you need have no driver.
