    Our country lost a soldier
    And the poor man lost a friend
    Oppressions grasp he loosened
    And he made the tyrant bend
    Until death’s cruel mandate
    Obliged him to obey
    And caused him to surrender
    On the 25th of May.

    The loss of valiant Darcy
    For e’er we’ll bear in mind
    He was a man in action
    In manner but a child
    By all he was respected
    Here's to his memory
    His name shall be inserted
    On the face of history.

    For since the great Melesians
    Our country ne’er produced
    No, nor in future ages
    A man of so much use
    In action or invention
    He exceeded them in skill
