Long ago, a man named Kelly was drowned in Pull- Fuairn about seventy years ago. It is said that he was a weak minded man and that he walked into it. The flood was very high at the time and his body lay in the water for many days. The police brought a boat from Tiaquin and recovered the body.
Another man from Killuane was drowned in "Loc na h-Inse". His name was Pat Connors. He was found dead in four feet of water and mud. He was about seventy five years.- Collector

About ten years ago a large barn of straw was burned in Gurteen. It belonged to Thomas Cormican. It was accidentally set on fire by a little boy of eight years. He let a lighting match drop from the loft. His carts, machinery and straw were burned.
