- Long ago the people used to have thatched roofs on their houses. They were made by first placing timber on the roof and next scraws. Then they put heath over the scraws and last of all straw.
The houses were very small and there were never any more than three rooms in them and in most houses there used to be only two, the kitchen, and a bed room, and they used to sleep in the kitchen.
Clay floor that were in most of the houses and there were mortar floors in other.
At night the lights they had, used to be rush candles and sometimes they used to have tin lamps with no globes.
