- (continued from previous page)vexed if any child went near his scissors or rulers for fear they would break them. The two best thatchers of the parish were Seán O Farrell father and some man from Lisrivish. The coat of thatch they used to put on lasted for sixteen or seventeen years.
- In the year 1839 a great wind came and the Williamstown church was getting slated at the time. When it was half slated the wind brought them all down again and then they count not put them up until it went. Thomas Burkes house in Ballyglass was knocked and the roof was blown off it in the year 1882. There was another swell storm about the year 1917 in the month of November and it did a lot of damage all around Ireland. It is aid that it knocked a lot of trees in the Springfield word.
