    Basket Making
My Father is able to make Baskets. He first gets a pot of water and red sally rods. He puts the rods into the pot of water and puts them on the fire until they are boiled. He leaves them boiling about two hours. Then he peels them as quick as he can. Then he gets six or eight strong rods and puts them close together in the shape of a cross. Then he starts weaving until he has the bottom made. The he makes the coísín. Then he puts a row of rods outside. Then he makes the Bunion and the basket is finished

The above was told to me by my Father Michael Mc Loughlin Newtown Mount Bellew aged 53
