- There are some diseases which doctors cannot cure. A person by the name of Vincent Jennings of Craughwell can cure wild fire or ringworm. When he breathes into the spot where it is he kills the germ and after a short time the mark leaves. He is the seventh son without any daughter born between the seven sons and every seventh son has the same power.
Many children have a coating on their tongues called brush. If a girl is born after her father's death she has power to cure it. Molly Keane of Coalwood can cure this by breathing into the child's mouth three times. There is also another disease called "clepeen". This is a turning in of the ribs on a person. It is very hard to cure this disease and nearly all doctors fail to cure it. Mr. Gibney from near Oranmore can cure this with a tumbler or a glass. He fills the glass with steam and by placing it to the side and pulling it slowly he can bring the ribs to their proper place again. He never learned this trade but had it from nature.- Collector
