  1. There was once a man who was going to a dance. He went by the shore and saw a girl washing her feet in the tide. He spoke to her but she did not answer him. He picked up a clod of turf and threw it at her but still she took no notice of him.
    When he was coming home that night again, he saw something like a sack of wool. When he came near it began pushing him about. He happened to have a dog with him and the dog began to fight with it. He went home and went to bed and when he got up in the morning the dog was lying dead at the door.
