   The evening shades are falling, and the summer sun's gone down,

   A grey mist's creeping lazily across the bogland brown,

   Come! let us hasten, ere it's late, to gather peat and whins;

   There's plenty bog-wood on the moor and turf on Arnaduns,

   We'll bring them to the usual spot on Ned O'Donnell's Height,

   For our town shall not be behind upon a Bonfire Night!

   And Micky's John has promised us to his horse and cart:

   Yonder comes John, with horse and cart, down
