- "The Local Roads"The "old road" leading from Ballymacarry National School to the mill bridge is so called because it was the first main road leading into Buncrana. It was constructed in eighteen forty seven and forty eight. The road leading from Castle Bridge to LIsnakelly was made eatly in eighteen hundred. It was the main road to Clonmany and Carndonagh the road leading past the "Round Knowe" lead from the town to the "Illies" this road was known as the whinny road. Castle Avenue was known as the Gubbuck Lane.
