  2. The ship Tayleur bound for Australia and sailing from the port of Howth was lost off Lambay Island.
    A great number of people from Ballymena, Co Antrim, were travelling by this boat, and some were saved and others drowned.

    The names of some of the survivors were Mr James Montford, Broughshane, Co Antrim now deceased, Mr William McCarley Ballycloughan; and Mr James Beatltie
