- It was a custom in this district long ago that the people should eat not more than three meals per day.That is not the way with the people now-a-days. They think that they would starve if they didrit [?] get four or maybe more meals daily.The meals the old people had were breakfast, dinner and supper.The breakfast then consisted of oatmeal porridge and tea. It was eaten about nine oclock.The dinner was made up of potatoes, salt milk and sometimes butter or eggs.
