  1. As I went out walking
    One morning in May
    A pretty fair maid
    She came tripping my way;
    Her cheeks were like roses,
    She sweetly did sing
    With a bonny blue handkerchief
    Tied under her chin.

    To kiss her sweet lips
    I was going to begin
    “Oh now, sir,” said she,
    “It would be a sin,
    Just produce me a ring
    And to you I’ll be true;”
    And the bonny blue handkerchief
    Was under her chin.
    III
    He put his hand to his pocket,
    Brought out a gold ring:
    “Take this, my fair lady,
    One kiss I have won;”
    This couple got married,
    I hear them all say,
