    Soldier, soldier, will you marry me?

    “Soldier, soldier, will you marry me?
    With my hi-ho, and the sound of a drum.”
    “No, no, no, I could not marry you,
    For I have no shirt to put on.”
    She went to the market as fast as she could tear,
    With her hi-ho, and the sound of a drum.
    She bought him a shirt of the very very best,
    And gave it to the soldier to put on.
