slipped and fell and was killed. A pony and a horse were killed in the same place the next day. Cow after cow and calf after calf were killed in the same place until the man was reduced to poverty.
One day as the man was out working an old woman came in and sat down on a stool. The woman of the house never saw her before. She began telling the old woman about their loss.
"Well" said the old woman "close the new gap you made for the cows, calves and horses. For every beast and person that walk through that gap is walking on our heads and I advise you to close the gap. Then she went out and away she went. The woman went out to see what way she went but no sight of her was to be seen.
Then she went and told her husband the news and immediately he closed the gap and opened another one.
A cow never died with them since that and soon the became as rich as ever.
