  2. There has never been any fair in the district. A fair is held in the village of Ardara on 1st day of each month. Cattle sheep and some horses are sold. The biggest fairs are the Harvest fairs for cattle on 1st Sept and the Lamas fair for sheep on 1st Oct.
    The custom of going Luckspenny - usually 6d in the £1 persists. This is always spat upon. On making a bargain men slap each others hands and with the assistance of a looker-on keep on "dividing the difference between the amount asked and offered until bargain is made. The bargain is
