    Once upon a time there was two brothers and a sister.

Then they heard the giant coming with a rood of goats before him. When he came in he pulled them through the fire and eat [sic] them in one mouthful. Then he said he could smell the smell of an Irish man. When he saw the boy he took a magic stick and hit the boy and turned him into two hob stones and threw them behind the fire.
    Then the second boy said to his mother “This day twelve months my brother went away and this day two years my sister went away and I must go to-day to hear from them.” So the mother asked him would he take half a goat and her blessing or a full goat and her curse. The boy said he would take half a goat and her blessing. So she got up on the house and started to bless him and gave him half a goat. He went on first to meet a
