    In the olden times two giants, one living at each side of the Blackwater in Ardsallagh had a challenge as to which would throw a rock the farther.
    The giant on the right bank threw a rock across the river. This is called "An Carraig Buidhe".
    The giant on this side at the left bank threw a rock of equal weight but over a part of the river which is much wider. So the giant on this side one.
    It is a lonely place especially at night for it is much frequented by ghosts. Many people have been frightened there from time to time.
