  1. Shops were not common in olden times, and people had to go to the nearest town to buy their goods. Buying and selling was seldom carried on after Mass. Buying is carried on now after Mass, such as tea sugar and other little articles used in the house.
    Money was not always given for goods.
    Country people often gave turf and potatoes to the shop-keeper in exchange for goods. Labour was seldom given in this district in exchange for goods.
