  1. We have a churn at home. It is twenty years old. It is about three feet in height The sides are straight. It is as wide at the top as the bottom. Butter is made once every week in winter and twice ever week in summer. My mother makes the churning. The dash is moved up and down. It is done with the hands. The milk is warmed before it is put into the churn, to raise the temperature of the milk. A pinch of salt is put into the churn before the butter is made.
