  1. The night of the Big Wind was 12th night 1839. There were lightning, wind, showers and darkness. People were up putting dung on the roofs. They were bent to the ground. The dust of the houses were striking them in the faces.
    Archdeacon Munnelly's grand father and grand mother were drowned while crossing the stepping stones of Cill's river in Ballyduane that night. They had come from Cnoc Maol to pay rent to an agent named Lynch, who lived where Kincon Post Office now is.
