  1. In olden times the houses were very different from ? they are today but there are still some of them left in this locality. They had all thatched roofs. They were all stone and mortar buildings with very thick walls.
    Each house had two rooms one a kitchen and on a l? room, it was given over to the cattle at night. It was separated from the kitchen by a drain.
    Over the cattle there was a loft on which the hens used roost at night. The donkey used be tied to the leg of the table and a goat or a c? tied to the back door. There were two very small windows which never used to be opened one in the kitchen and in the bedroom. The bedroom contained three wooden ?
    The kitchen furniture consisted of a table, dress? form, one chair, and several stools. There were two very ? hobs one each side of the fire, these were also used as seats, ? was a hole in the wall beside the fire in which the man of the house kept his pipe and tobacco. There was an out-shoot in every house. In it there was a four posted bed.
