- There are many old customs that the people used to have at the different feasts of the year. On St. Stephens Day long ago boys and men would go round to the houses with straw round them.
They would say "Help to bury the wren" and any house that would not give them money they would bury the wren outside the door and bad luck would come on the people of the house. After the days journey they would divide the money and spend it on drink. On Shrove Tuesday people used to have salt fight. Long ago it was unlawful(continues on next page)- Collector
