  1. Every year there are two fairs held in Kilmaine one on the 12th of July, and the other on the 28th of October. All sorts of animals are sold there. The fairs nowadays are small but long ago they were large. Long ago donkeys were sold there.
    The sheep are sold in the street, the cattle, horses, and foals are sold in the fairgreen. Long ago the sheep fair was held in Knockatotain a field north of the village. It is owned by Paddy Connor.
    When a man wants to sell an animal, he is asked by the buyer what price he wants for the animal. The seller asks a price. Then the buyer offers a price sometimes a good deal less than the price the seller asks. The
