  1. There is a story told in our village that long ago when donkeys were not very plentiful a stray donkey came to John Frain's one night. John fixed a pair of "cliabhs" on the donkey's back to put out manure. He worked for a few hours, but when he was going to the field the fourth time he saw a crowd of people inside the ditch. He heard them buying and selling cattle, and all the noise and commotion of a fair.
When he went home he got a few men to come with him to the field again, but when they came near the place where John had seen the people the same thing was seen by the other men and such shouting and cracking of whips the men never before heard. They went home very frightened and John knew that he did not do right in working with the donkey which did not belong to him.
