  1. Long ago, if a child had the whooping cough his mother or father would go to three houses and get an eatable charity from each house. The house must have been that of a married pair and they must both be of the same name (the wife must have had the same sir name as her husband before married) Then the mother would boil the three charities and give it to the child to eat. He would then get better.
