- KillasolanThe village of Killasolan derives its name from the ancient Church of St. Solan. This church was closed in the Cromwellian Period. The protestant population tried to taske possession of the church for their own services. One Sunday when the service was going on a number of the young boys (catholic) arrived on the scene and took the horses from the chariots and drove them into the bogs. The church was never used again. A portion of one wall remains standing.
